Only continuing students who already have done training can use the shop.
The E4 Wood Shop is located on the 4th floor of the E building at 25 East 13th Street. The wood shop is equipped with sanders, drill presses, a combination jointer/planer, table router, multi router, lathes, and various saws. Additional hand tools and accessories are available for loan through the E4 Tool Checkout. 2nd-year Parsons students and above are permitted to work within the wood shop during open hours once they have completed the Intro to Wood Training and have received their number “2” sticker. Students are responsible to understand all safety protocol and policy of the facility regarding etiquette, approved material use, required safety equipment / PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and proper equipment use. The wood shop is staffed with technicians during all open hours and student technical assistants on evenings and weekends to provide instructional support.
This is a list of approved materials permitted for use within the E4 Wood Shop.
Any material not on the list must be approved before it may be used in the facilities. Before purchasing a material not listed get a MSDS. These sheets contain important information about handling, storage, safety needs, and disposal of the material. Materials must be approved by the E4 Facilities Manager.
