Rachel Eli Jones - Technician, E4 Wood
Rachel Eli Jones was born and raised in the Midwest, and is an educator and craftsperson with a background in trades work and environmental stewardship. Over the past 10 years Rachel has traveled the country taking on jobs that helped her to investigate the human relationship to natural resources through making-by-hand. She has worked as a furniture maker, farmer, foundry worker, landscaper, home renovator, and educator. Driven by these experiences, her work (which ranges from wood and fiber to illustration and story) advocates for self-empowerment through making, and for cultural empowerment for makers. Rachel is a founding collaborator and educator at Eco Practicum, an alternative education program based in NYC and the Catskills of New York. She has a BA in Culture and Media from Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, and a joint MFA in Applied Craft + Design from the Pacific Northwest College of Art and Oregon College of Art and Craft.
